Hispanic group decries portrayals in media
    November 8, 2005
Beatriz Amberman, founder of the Virginia Beach-based Hispanic Community Dialogue Organization, says she is concerned about what she called a growing anti-immigrant sentiment portrayed in the media.

Amberman coordinated a news conference Monday to "start a dialogue about racism, bias and bigotry."

"We know that our immigration system is broken," Amberman said. "We call upon our Congress and our president to find a solution."

She and others expressed concerns that immigrants are being portrayed in a negative way in the media and by the public.

The group is planning a public forum from 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 9 in room 104 of the Batten Arts and Letters Building at Old Dominion University in Norfolk.

I think that she means anti-ILLEGAL immigrant.
For some reason they always seem to forget the "illegal" part.

Isn't that just too bad! If we didn't have illegals here, I don't think you'd see a whole lot of bias and bigotry towards immigrants (real immigrants!).

Don't forget that what they mean by "broken immigration system" is that there are borders, and that everyone can't just run here, hummm that seems wrong I think they can.

My view is the broken means it isn't being enforced and used correctly.
