Douglas seeks help along border
Bisbee council will discuss plea to join forces with neighboring city

BISBEE — The city council members will discuss issues Tuesday night during the regular meeting dealing with topics pertinent to the climate and border security.

The city has been asked by the Douglas City Council to join in a resolution requesting action be taken by state and federal agencies to secure the border with Mexico and protect against criminal activities by providing more physical and human resources. Douglas is presenting the resolution to the Arizona League of Cities and Towns and is seeking support from other municipalities in the state.

“Border communities bear the costs and expenditures as a result of apprehending and detaining border bandits and criminals. Recognizing the limited local resources, it is readily apparent that there is a desperate need to improve our border security. The lack of border security causes a depletion of local law enforcement as well as causing drastic economic growth repercussions to the border region,â€
