Meet council, prosecutor candidates

The organization Hate Free Zone, in collaboration with many community and labor groups, invites the public to join in the first forum of candidates for Seattle City Council and King County prosecutor.

Tonight's forum will focus on immigrant and refugee issues.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the forum will be from 6-8:30 p.m. today at Town Hall Seattle, 1119 Eighth Ave.

The forum will address immigrant issues such as health care, education, sustainable development, law enforcement, racial profiling, immigrant integration, civic participation, and local and federal immigration policy.

Hate Free Zone was established to advance the principles of democracy and justice at the local, state and national levels by building power within immigrant communities. It has registered more than 18,000 immigrant citizens to vote and hopes to register about 30,000 to vote in 2008.
