Lakewood police have identified a man suspected of fatally shooting two men in Springbrook Park during a dispute last weekend.
Based on witness interviews, Pierce County prosecutors charged a man who’s known as Gonzalo Garcia with two counts of first-degree murder. The man’s legal name is unknown, deputy prosecutor Ed Murphy said.

A warrant was issued for the 23- year-old man’s arrest Friday. Lake- wood police investigators say he could be headed to Southern California or Mexico, said Mike Zaro, the assistant police chief. They’ve notified West Coast law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Border Patrol, about the warrant.

Prosecutors allege Garcia killed Misael Vejar Bisoso, a 22-year-old married father, and Bisoso’s brother-in-law, 24-year-old Pedro Armenta-Fernandez, the night of June 21.

Charging documents provide this account of the shooting:

Bisoso and Armenta-Fernandez were leaving the park in the 12600 block of Addison Street Southwest about 9:20 p.m. after playing volleyball and cards. A shooting broke out during a fight over money wagered during a game, Lakewood police have said.

A witness told police he heard one or two gunshots, turned and saw Bisoso falling to the ground. Garcia was standing 10 feet from Bisoso, the witness reported.

“The witness told police that Garcia was holding a handgun and that Garcia then fired multiple shots at Armenta, who stumbled and fell against a nearby fence,â€
