Secretary of State denies accusations she is allowing illegal immigrants to vote in Arizona

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) -The Secretary of State is the second highest office in Arizona.

And this year the Republican incumbent Michele Reagan is taking fire for problems with an election two years ago.
This was the Presidential Preference Election where voters stood in long lines for up to five hours to cast their ballots.
While much of the race has focused on the 2016 problems, political newcomer Steve Gaynor is spending big money attacking Reagan on other issues.

Gaynor's campaign has called Reagan the worst Secretary of State on modern Arizona history and they have accused her, "allowing illegal immigrants vote in federal elections in Arizona."

However, Reagan says that's false, that there have been no cases where someone who is not an American citizen has cast a ballot in the state.

Candidate For Ariz. State Secretary Says No To Multi-Language Election Pamphlets

A Republican challenger running for Arizona’s secretary of state is voicing strong views about providing multilingual voter pamphlets.

A new video this week revealed Steve Gaynor’s opposition to some election laws requiring some counties to provide election ballots and information in multiple languages.

During the candidate forum in Wickenburg earlier this month, the candidate said English should be the only language for Arizona’s election materials.

Gaynor supported his statement by mentioning his own printing company in Los Angeles, which provides all election materials for the state of California.

“My printing plant in LA printed an information ballot with 18 languages on it,” he explained. “I would be the first to say ballots, information packets, all material in our country should be in English.”

Gaynor also touched on his hope to overturn the 1993 Voter Rights Act signed under former President Bill Clinton, which sets standards for implementing multilingual documents.

This comment references the four counties requiring this accommodation including Maricopa, Pima, Yuma and Santa Cruz.

The political newcomer hopes to unseat incumbent Republican Secretary Michele Reagan in the November midterm elections.
