SOUTHEAST - A Connecticut man in the country illegally from Mexico is being held at the Putnam County jail on a federal immigration detainer warrant after a Putnam deputy charged him this week with driving while intoxicated, police said today.

Putnam Deputy Kevin McManus was on patrol Tuesday around 3:20 a.m. when he stopped Esteban De Jesus Munoz-Adame, 27, of 6 Prindle Lane in Danbury, Conn., for a traffic violation, police said. McManus determined he was under the influence and charged him with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, police said.

Munoz-Adame is at least the third illegal alien charged with driving while intoxicated in the Brewster area since June 8, when Zacaria Conses-Garcia, a 35-year-old Guatemalan who authorities say was in the country illegally, drove drunk through Brewster and struck and killed a 37-year-old mother and her 8-year-old daughter as they were leaving the girl's dance class.

Munoz-Adame was arraigned before Town Justice Richard Vercollone, who sent him to the Putnam County jail in Carmel in lieu of $500 bail.

Once Munoz-Adame arrived at the jail, authorities determined he was in the country illegally from Mexico and contacted federal Immigration and Custom Enforcement, which placed a detainer warrant on him, police said.

Illegals start out as criminals and it gets worse from there

More American lives are saved as the illegals are "put out" of our country. Bravo, law Enforcement!

SOUTHEAST - A Connecticut man in the country illegally from Mexico is being held on a federal detainer warrant after a Putnam County sheriff's deputy charged him this week with driving while intoxicated, police said.

Deputy Kevin McManus was on patrol around 3:20 a.m. Tuesday on Route 6 when he stopped a car driven by Esteban De Jesus Munoz-Adame, 27, of Danbury, Conn., on a traffic violation, police said.

Munoz-Adame is at least the third suspected illegal immigrant charged with DWI in the Brewster area since June 8, when a 35-year-old Guatemalan is accused of striking and killing a 37-year-old woman and her 8-year-old daughter while driving drunk.

Munoz-Adame was being held in the county jail in Carmel with bail set at $500.

Jail authorities determined he was in the country illegally and contacted Immigration and Customs Enforcement, police said. He remains in jail and faces deportation proceedings.

In the fatal crash, Zacaria Conses-Garcia, who lived in Southeast, was charged with two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide in the deaths of Lori and Kayla Donohue. He is being held without bail in the county jail, where ICE has also lodged a detainer warrant against him.

A month later, Brewster police arrested Segundo Ordonez-Tanay, a 26-year-old Educadorean. Some criticized the county Sheriff's Office because it failed to notify ICE of his arrest before he was able to post $2,500 bail.

But when Ordonez-Tanay showed up Monday at Village Court to plead guilty to the DWI charge, he was taken into custody by ICE officials. He is being held in Manhattan, awaiting deportation proceedings.
