SEN. GRASSLEY LOOKING FOR INFORMATION ON DETAINED ILLEGAL

SEN. GRASSLEY LOOKING INTO AND OBTAINING INFORMATION ON DETAINED ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS GAINING ACCESS TO TAXPAYER FUNDED ENTERTAINMENT, INTERNET

    US Fed News
    June 12, 2010
    WASHINGTON, D.C.

The office of Sen. Charles E. Grassley, R-Iowa, issued the following news release:

Senator Chuck Grassley today asked for additional information and investigation from the federal agency that detains illegal immigrants about its plans to provide those who it has detained on illegal immigration charges with access to free email and phone access and new recreational activities including bingo, dance lessons and art classes.

Grassley said his concerns follow a June 8th Houston Chronicle article that said, "Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials are preparing to roll out a series of changes at several privately owned immigration detention centers, including relaxing some security measures for low-risk detainees and offering art classes, bingo and continental breakfast on the weekends."

"U.S. taxpayers will absolutely not tolerate Uncle Sam using their money to provide dance lessons, bingo, art classes and continental breakfasts to those who knowingly broke our laws," Grassley said.

Here is a copy of Grassley's letter to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Assistant Secretary:

Providing all this to illegal aliens in custody who are suppose to be deported is insane! I can't even read it without thinking the purpose of such insanity is to irritate the american people, to try to push them a little further over the edge so they will act. It seems like push, push, push and push some more until they finally reach the breaking point.

Yes. I am just waiting for some of the teens in my 'hood to get into some super trouble. They have no jobs. Nobody has any money for food or entertainment. They would love to play bingo, have dances - nobody even goes to the movies or even gets Netflix anymore! Actually, where I live, any of us would love to have those options - we will not tolerate it being given to illegals who broke laws when we ourselves cannot have it -

I so agree with you "sawdust" - I remember in school being taught about the atrocities of the first "Great Depression" when our out of touch government dumped loads of food into the ocean because the law would not allow them to distribute it to the needy and they could not bring themselves to change the law timely. Earlier this year strawberry farmers had their crops ruined and people called them names but really they still have masters to obey - they could not afford to put the strawberries to market for the price they would fetch - in this case a responsive government could have eased their pain and made the crops available to the hungry. Isn't government there for crisis such as these that are beyond the individual's ability to cope? Isn't that why we buy into their crap?

And hello, bingo and dance class and 12 hour (conjugal ?) visits to create more anchor babies when we have this Gulf Oil Spill that looks like it will kill the oceans of the world? Unbelievable.
