PHOENIX (AP) - Republican presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann is praising Arizona officials for their efforts to tighten border security and combat illegal immigration, saying the state was forced to act because the federal government hasn't done its job.
The Minnesota congressman said during a news conference in Phoenix on Monday that the state is being forced to act because of what she called failures of the federal government.
Bachmann singled out state Senate President Russell Pearce and Gov. Jan Brewer, who were responsible for the passage of a controversial Arizona immigration law last year known as SB1070.
A second candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, Herman Cain, also was scheduled to campaign in Arizona on Monday.
Cain is to make a courtesy call on Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, whose department is known for making workplace sweeps to arrest illegal immigrants for identify fraud.

If she can keep her poll ratings above 2% she may be able to rise like the Phoenix, there's still quite a little distance to go!
