Senate GOP denies funds for lawyers for immigrant children

    Posted: Wednesday, June 10, 2015 1:00 pm

    Associated Press |

WASHINGTON (AP) — A GOP-controlled Senate panel has blocked President Barack Obama's request for $50 million to pay for legal help for unaccompanied immigrant children coming to the United States after fleeing violence in Central America.

Republican Sen. Richard Shelby of Alabama is behind the move. He's the chief author of a spending bill funding the Justice Department.

The measure won initial approval Wednesday but has a long way to go before becoming law.

The number of children fleeing gangs and other dangers in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador and making their way to the U.S. is down significantly from last year.

Without legal representation, these children are much more likely to be sent back to their home countries.

There seems to b much game playing going on, but not even any meaningful victory for the home team. Come on republicans, let us have something to share with Momma. Games not won should not win votes in 2016, or later.

We need Americans in congress. Americans vs. republicans and/or democrats, I'll take an American every time. What American wouldn't?

Which is exactly where they belong, and is precisely the correct outcome, with or without legal representation.

GO REPUBLICANS! No more money for these crooked immigration lawyers.
