    This isn't 'anti-immigrant' it's anti-illegal immigrant.' Why can't journalists get that right?

"It is worrying that a vote has been so high, but we must also understand that it is not yet a law and we are confident that these efforts to be heavy-handed measures that do not solve the problem are being put at risk," added Martinez .
What you must understand is that American voters are DEMANDING our laws be enforced! Enforcing our immigration laws WILL solve the problem, comprende?

Since Dole's amendment is briefly mentioned above thought it could be piggybacked on this thread.

    Dole amendment expands 287(g) program
    Submitted by bkrueger on March 14, 2008 - 10:06am.

U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole is crowing this morning about the Senate's approval last night of an amendment she offered to provide more money to help local law enforcement agencies "apprehend, identify and remove criminal illegal aliens."

Dole, a Salisbury Republican, is referring to the so-called 287(g) program. Under the program, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) works with local law enforcement to combat illegal immigration.

A handful of North Carolina counties, including Mecklenburg and Alamance, have such agreements with ICE.

The amendment approved last night would provide an additional $75 million for the program.

"To address the problems presented by individuals who are not only here illegally but who have self-identified themselves because of criminal behavior - we must provide the funding for ICE to make the necessary resources available to our local law enforcement officers who are on the front lines," Dole said.

WASHINGTON, DC - As part of a budget resolution, the Senate approved several amendments republican listed "anti-immigrant", including one that sets mandatory minimum sentences (including prison) who are convicted of illegally crossing the border.
It is NOT "anti-immigrant" STUPID. It is '"anti-illegal immigrant".

What shocked me was the Menendez amendment, he must be getting alot of pressure form his state.
Menendez' motives aren't what they seem.

[quote]The second amendment, sponsored by Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), was somewhat similar to Sen. Sessions’ although it did not fund the fence and placed limitations on National Guard troop deployment. The [b]critical difference, however, was the inclusion of language allowing funds to be used for “immigration reform measures,â€

Well, even if they get a bill together and the House passes it, Bush will never sign just an enforcement bill. He's out in November and could care less about enforcement.
