MO-Janitorial contractor wins lawsuit against state
Janitorial services contractor wins his lawsuit against the state
Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at 2:51 p.m.
JEFFERSON CITY --
Missouri officials must pay $152,000 to a janitorial company the state blocked from contracts over allegations that the firm employed illegal immigrants.
Two years ago, the Blunt administration canceled contracts with Sam's Janitorial Services and barred the firm from rebidding after about two dozen employees in Jefferson City were detained in an immigration sting.
The company also cleaned buildings in Kansas City and Columbia.
Company owner Kwabena Asamoah-Boadu says the sanctions were unfair because he checked employee documents and did not knowingly hire illegal immigrants.
Cole County Judge Richard Callahan agreed and says the state illegally invalidated the janitorial contracts.
He ordered the payment as damages for breach of contract.

I guess Missouri doesn't require e-verify for state contractors?

They should have a voluntary program where citizens who want to include their fingerprint with their SS number can do it. But voluntary. I bet most people would do it to protect themselves. That way MOST SS numbers would be protected from fraud. I am tired of employers claiming they dont know. They know. Then make e-verify available to all employers. Again....not mandatory....voluntary. If an employer is caught with illegals and the e-verify system has info that the SS is a mismatch, then the employer would be guilty because he/she had access to the information and did not use it. These two systems would block most stolen SS numbers from being used....and also prevent phony SS numbers from being used. There would only be a very tiny percent who could slip by. Hey it aint perfect, but better than what we have. This way employers could not claim innocence. And Congress would not have to keep struggling with e-verify because it would not be mandatory.

I had to go get a new SS card. It arrived in the mail and wow, my name and number were printed on a piece of cheap, thin card stock with the security feature of red and blue squiggles embedded in the paper. Is our gov't recording the random squiggles they send us?
The knowingly hiring stuff has made me insane, as how easy is it to say we are not document experts and we did not know it was fraudulent.
We have the computer power and the resources (if Napolitano would ask Congress from money and pursue the effort) to know exactly who came in on a visa, who came in without one, who did what while they were in this country, etc.
Americans have always come to the forefront in innovation, but in these days, getting new voters is more important that what is right, just and fair on behalf of citizens.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Well, I tell you what governments need to do. They need to hire American Citizens as state employees to clean state buildings on state payrolls like they used to do and forget these "janitorial services".
