Several immigrants released and dropped off at bus station in downtown El Paso

EL PASO, Texas — Several immigrants were released from ICE and dropped off at the Greyhound bus station in downtown El Paso on Friday afternoon, according to Ruben Garcia the director of the Annunciation House.

Garcia said ICE announced a change in its policy on how they process arriving refugee families. Garcia said Border Patrol, CBP and ICE will no longer hold families beyond what court orders allow them if there are no churches, or shelters able and willing to receive the families. They would then be released to the street.

Garcia said about four buses with the immigrants were dropped off.
Garcia said between 50 to 75 immigrants don't have a bus ticket and many of them are trying to contact family to get them to buy them a ticket. Garcia said they don't have money, food, or a place to stay.

The Annunciation House got permission to house them at the Holy Family School.

We reached out to to ICE for a comment but have not heard back.
