Boren predicts federal immigration legislation

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Congressman Dan Boren says he expects federal legislation on illegal immigration is likely after the November elections.

Boren told members of the Tulsa Metro Chamber of Commerce he believes the legislation will take the place of state and local laws aimed at illegal immigrants.

Boren says the legislation will likely include either some sort of "path to citizenship" for illegal immigrants or legal residency. He says immediate deportation of the estimated 12 to 20 million illegal immigrants in the U.S. is probably not feasible.
