The violence along America's southern border is on its way to the Tri-state, according to a Texas sheriff invited to Butler County to talk about the problems his county faces.
Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones brought Sheriff Sigifredo Gonzalez from Zapata County – a county on the US/ Mexico border – to talk about what his Texas county is dealing with.
Sheriff Gonzalez says problems on the border are fast approaching the Tri-state.
"It's a warning to this area that it's coming your way," said the sheriff. "Some is already here, but it is coming your way."
Sheriff Jones agrees with Gonzalez.
"More people are coming across the border. The violence is getting more," the Butler County sheriff said.
They both are hoping the message will reach law enforcement and both presidential hopefuls.
"The cartels are in this area. Drug traffic is in this area. And as we know it, the violence in Mexico and what's being spilled over into the U.S. side, is very close to also happening here in the Ohio area," said Sheriff Gonzalez.
Sheriff Jones hopes the message is a wake-up call for everyone.
Several business owners and residents from Butler County say at times Sheriff Jones goes too far, though.
And they say because of a few illegal immigrants, the entire Hispanic community is suffering.

Texas Sheriff Warns Tri-State of Drug Cartels
Last Update: 9/10 6:15 pm
A sheriff from South Texas is in the Tri-State sounding an alarm about a growing problem involving drugs and violence coming from Mexico. Officials believe we are already beginning to see the impact of drug cartels in our area.
Local 12's Rich Jaffe explains in this developing story alert. Sheriff Sigi Gonzalez heads the Texas Border Sheriff's Coalition.
As the sheriff of Zapata County, south of San Antonio, he oversees 65 miles of Mexican border. He came to Butler County at the invitation of Sheriff Richard Jones to address nearly 150 members of Ohio law enforcement. His message is clear.
Sigifredo Gonzalez Jr, Sheriff Zapata County Texas: "The federal government is neglecting to do their job on the border. We're seeing the criminal element in this country, rapists, murderers, drug cartel leaders actually coming into the country and they're being allowed to come in to this country by our own government. They are here in Ohio and all across the nation. You are going to start seeing an increase in violence."
Gonzalez has seen first hand the dramatic increase in violence from Mexican drug cartels, saying they are frequently escorted across the border by Mexican military troops, bringing with them drugs, violence and kidnapping.
"Kidnappings are actually happening in Dallas, Houston... They're being taken back to Mexico. It's going to happen here also. From speaking to Sheriff Jones a little while ago, he's already had murders here execution style. That's the sign of the cartels. They're here and they're here to stay."
Rich Jaffe: "The problems with illegals in this area are clearly growing. The Butler County Sheriff is deporting 50 illegals a week from his jail. While most of them are not violent criminals, the violent crime associated with illegals is also growing."
Experts point to the Sharonville murder of four Latino men last year... and just last month the execution style murder of two Latino's in Fairfield.
Richard Jones, Butler County Sheriff: "It's out of control and our leaders that are running for the highest position, not in the United States, but the world, won't discuss this issue. But it's not going to go away. This is just the beginning and this is part of the education process, so these people here today will know and be able to prepare for what's coming and what's already came across the borders."
Sheriff Jones says at the risk of incurring the political wrath of the Republican Party, he plans to see that when the Presidential candidates come to his jurisdiction, illegal immigration is one of the primary issues they address.
