Sheriff fights snub as feds hunt fugitive in border agent's slaying

Napolitano to see grieving agents
NOGALES — In the wake of a Naco-based Border Patrol agent’s slaying, Cochise County Sheriff Larry Dever has asked to meet with Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano while she is in the state.

Department of Homeland Security staff told the Herald/Review that Napolitano plans to spend time today with agents who are mourning the loss of their comrade Brian A. Terry.

The fifth suspect in Terry’s slaying remains on the loose. Teams of border officers combed through the desert northwest of Nogales on Thursday in search of the fugitive in Tuesday night’s fatal shooting. They were on horseback, in all-
terrain vehicles and in helicopters, searching rugged, hard-to-reach spots in a mountainous area 10 miles north of the Mexican border.

The suspect could be in Mexico, or could have tried his luck in Nogales, but he also could be hiding behind the next bush.
