Defenders of AZ law: a rebuttal

If Arizona’s new immigration law is supposed to be the best thing since warm tortillas, why do supporters have to prop it up by engaging in falsehoods and scare tactics? Let me count the ways:

• The law bans racial profiling.
Truth: Racial profiling is already banned by federal statute, yet it happens. The Arizona law requires that once local and state police make contact with someone over an alleged infraction, they must determine legal status if they have “reasonable suspicionâ€

• Ruben Navarette is an honest, impartial and respected journalist.
Truth: Ruben Navarette is an open border hack who puts "his people" before his country.

To tell the truth, I can only speak for myself, but I am to the point where Im so fed up with this IA BS, that I no longer care one iota how it is done to get them out of here - just DO IT.

He does have a point about the businesses in AZ that hire them - that probably about 50% of the problem with there.

I have a hard time believing that crime rates go down with increased immigrant populations. Why is it that these small towns that have been taken over by IAs residents USED to be able to leave thier doors unlocked and there were no gangs and NOW they don't have that peace of mind anymore?

Thank you SicNTiredinSoCal. Crime rates don't go down with increased immigrant populations. Crime rates go down with more law enforcement. Crimes rates went down in San Diego when they built the San Diego Border Fence because illegal border crossings went down 95%. Same with El Paso. Crime rates in Arizona went down because they went down in Maricopa County, the largest population center of the state, because Sheriff Joe is arresting illegal aliens, putting them up in his Tent City, and crimes went down 25% which because crime went down so much in Phoenix, it reduced the overall crime rates for the state. But that didn't decrease the crime rates in the other counties still trying to figure out what to do, should they do like Sheriff Joe and be called a racist and be targeted for a trumped up DOJ investigation or let illegal aliens rape, pillage, and plunder their citizens. Kind of a tough choice, huh? So, the AZ law settles that dilemma for them, since it now requires all the Sheriffs and all the Police Departments to enforce the law like Sheriff Joe does. If they think crime rates went down last year, just wait and see how far they plummet next year.

And yes, he does have a point about Arizonans hiring illegal aliens, which is why 8 pages of the 15 page bill, not counting the cover page, deals with laws regulating employers legal hiring practices to force them to employ only legal workers and outlines the very long list of punishments for when they fail to comply. If Navarrette had bothered to read the bill before commenting, he would have known that the bill he condemns addresses the very concern he raised.
