Roger Hedgecock blasts Obama - The other gunwalking scandals

    The other 'gunwalking' scandals

"Gunwalking" is one of the mysteries of the Obama years. The notorious Phoenix-based Fast and Furious "gunwalking" program made public by courageous whistleblowing federal agents and CBS News was apparently not the only one.

First we learned about guns "walking" across the Mexican border and into the waiting hands of Mexican drug cartel killers, then guns "walking" into Central American countries and into the waiting hands of gang killers, then guns even "walking" out of gun stores in the Midwest into the waiting hands of domestic gangs – all of this "gunwalking" in violation of federal law and with the full knowledge, and sometimes the participation, of Obama's federal agents.

The carnage from "gunwalking" continues to mount. Hundreds of Mexicans have been killed in Mexico by cartel killers armed by Obama's Fast and Furious program. The Mexican government has investigated and, over last weekend, demanded extradition of responsible Obama officials for trial in Mexico.

Last week, Lanny Breuer, assistant attorney general in charge of the criminal division, testified to Congress that the Fast and Furious gunwalking had occurred in the Bush administration, too. But the Bush Justice Department had coordinated the program with Mexican authorities. Obama never did.

Obama's own federal agents have died because of "gunwalking."

According to official accounts of the Justice Department, Border Patrol agent Brian Terry, armed with a bean-bag gun to protect the civil rights of apprehended illegals, was gunned down and killed in a shootout with cartel killers in the Arizona desert.

Two guns found at the scene of the Terry murder were traced to the guns the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, or BATF, deliberately allowed to be sold to known cartel straw buyers in American gun shops in violation of federal gun laws. The cartel buyers were then allowed to walk the guns to Mexico and the cartels.

According to information contained in 650 pages of Justice Department records turned over to congressional investigators in recent weeks, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Jaime Zapata was gunned down and killed on a Mexican highway by cartel killers using a Draco AK-47 pistol purchased by known cartel straw buyer Otilio Osorio in Joshua, Texas, four months before.

BATF agents knew of Osorio cartel ties but did nothing to prevent the sale or the shipment of the gun to Mexico.

Operation Castaway out of Tampa, Fla., was another BATF gunwalker program that a whistleblower alleges allowed straw purchases of guns in Florida gun stores to be "walked" to gangs in Honduras.

A similar gunwalking episode in Indiana resulted in domestic gangs getting weapons they shouldn't have in violation of federal gun laws, again with the knowledge of BATF.

Hats off to Sens. Chuck Grassley, Marco Rubio and John Cornyn, and Reps. Darrell Issa, Ted Poe, John Carter and Gus Bilirakis for pursuing these allegations and continuing to demand that Obama come clean.

The original purpose of these "gunwalking" programs now seems clear. Border violence caused by American gun shops and "lax gun laws" was the set up for reimposition of federal "assault " gun bans.

To this day, for example, Sen. Diane Feinstein, D-Calif., continues to read from a discredited playbook, insisting that more gun laws are needed to stem the sale of guns to dangerous people, when these sales have actually gone on with the knowledge and assistance of federal agents and in violation of current gun laws.

Every day, in every way, Obama continues to infringe on the constitutionally protected liberties of every American. To discourage opposition to Obama's power grabs, the disarming of American citizens is apparently priority No. 1, even if arming drug gangs is the means to the end of scaring Americans to give up their Second Amendment right.

Really glad to see our friend Roger Hedgecock moving on this issue with us and hope that other talk radio personalities will follow his lead.

We really need more voices pounding the drums on Fast and Furious.
