Despite the court ruling, similar immigration laws could appear across the country.
Despite the blow dealt by a federal judge to Arizona’s law aimed at tackling illegal immigration, lawmakers and activists backing similar measures in states across the country say the judge’s ruling won’t dissuade them from pressing on with their campaign to assert local governments’ rights to manage the issue.

The Philadelphia-based 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals heard arguments nearly two years ago on the attempt by the city of Hazelton, Pa. to require landlords and other business owners to verify that their customers were in the country legally.
