    A sign I made to take to Romney Rallies

    The solution for the United States of America's relations with it's neighbors to the south is not granting amnesty.

    <img src=http://content.answers.com/main/content/wp/en/d/dd/Colonia-dublan-pajarito.jpg>

    The solution is for their immigrants and Americans of goodwill to have the faith to stay involved there and to promote legitimate travel, trade and investment.

    Hi Richard. Sounds like common sense to me (I'll admit, I am partial to the fence as well...)

    My uncle Marshall was a friend of Dr. Norris Bradbury the head of the Los Alamos Lab and they used to go hunting nearby together in New Mexico. One day Bradbury said that he knew of a great hunting location in Mexico. A village of 500 in a farming community. My uncle went there once and was hooked on the place going back several times and staying in a bed and breakfast on a poultry farm. The people were Mormons and the village was Dublan George Romney's hometown.

    I think the Romneys could show empathy by helping to promote the district. "I need to help my relatives" could be meet with "we helped ours but we did not help them cheat".

    Yes, indeed - that's an interesting point.

    There are great places scattered throughout many, if not most, countries in this world (hey, we even have a few great places here too - but don't tell anyone there are any in Oregon.. please!?!?!? [got enough people here already - 'thank you very much')

    Also, it goes to show the scope/scale of human interaction - even across borders / regions / governments / etc - and I *do* believe that is an inherently a good thing... when done lawfully.

    I have several hunters in my family so I can appreciate the idiosyncratic tastes and preferences they often exhibit. A 'secret hunting spot' is probably more secure than most of the nation's classified secrets.

    George Romney was born in Colonia Dublán, Galeana, in the Mexican state of Chihuahua to Gaskell Romney (1871-1955), of English ancestry, and wife Anna Amelia Pratt (1876-1926), born to a Mexican-American father and a German mother. Romney's grandparents were polygamous Mormons who fled the United States because the federal government was hunting down polygamists.[1] Anna's father Helaman Pratt was the son of early Mormon apostle Parley P. Pratt. Helaman had served as president of the Mexican mission in Mexico City before moving to Chihuahua State, and George's uncle Rey L. Pratt would be president of the Mexican mission, president in exile, during the Mexican Revolution and on into the 1930s. When the Mexican Revolution broke out in late 1910, Romney's family went to Oakley, Idaho, and finally ending up in Salt Lake City, Utah. (Some would later ask questions about Romney being eligible for the presidency as a "natural-born citizen" when he was born in Mexico.) Romney's parents married in 1895; they had three older sons, Maurice, Douglas, and Miles, and a younger son, Lawrence

    SO THE QUESTION IS, EXACTLY HOW DEEP DO MITT ROMNEY'S FEELINGS GO TOWARD THE ILLEGALS FROM MEXICO? IS THIS WAY HE WANTS SHAMNESTY?????????

    MITT WAS BORN IN DETROIT, MI.

    Although there are still members of the Romney family living in Chihuahua there have been few visits there by the descendants of George Romney. While he was Governor I tried to bring a group of bed and breakfast owners from there to Boston and he would not agree to meet them.

    I do not think Mitt Romney wants an amnesty and most of the illegal aliens here now would be pressured into going back by the end of his first Presidential administration.

    Getting the people who are financing illegal immigration now to instead finance farm revival and small business would help accelerate the removal. I think the Romney family can have an important illustrative role.

    It does not make sense to be parochial even if Mitt Romney was born in Detroit they still have the historic tie and some relatives who are still Mexican. Using those facts they could be an example to others.
