TIJUANA — The arrests of six men and the seizure of five weapons are key to solving 32 homicides that occurred during a 29-month period across Tijuana, Baja California authorities said Tuesday.

The men, who range in age from 18 to 38, were taken into custody Monday night. They allegedly worked for a criminal group that is linked to gang leader Teodoro Garcia Simental, or El Teo.

Simental was arrested in January in Baja California Sur.

Authorities from the Baja California Attorney General’s Office said the six suspects were involved in last month’s shooting of two men leaving a restaurant on Boulevard Agua Caliente. The victims were shot to death allegedly for failing to pay a drug debt, authorities said.

At the time of their arrest, the men were carrying five weapons that are connected to 16 previous homicides, authorities said. The men are also is accused of committing 14 other homicides.
