Sixth DUI arrest for Escondido man

ESCONDIDO — A man arrested this week on numerous charges had five prior arrests for driving under the influence, police said.

Juan Tello Flores, 25, of Escondido, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of DUI, felony hit-and-run, DUI with prior convictions, felony evading with injury, resisting arrest, and driving on a suspended license, Escondido police Lt. Craig Carter said.

An Escondido police officer stopped the driver of a vehicle about 9:10 p.m. Sunday on suspicion of DUI near Bear Valley Parkway and Suburban Hills Drive, Carter said. As the officer contacted the driver, he fled. Officers pursued the vehicle, which crashed into two other vehicles, injuring one motorist, Carter said.

Flores was booked into the Vista Detention Facility and was placed on an immigration hold. He has previously been deported three times and voluntarily returned to Mexico a dozen times, Carter said.
