Smuggled Mexican toddler reunited with his parents

A 1 1/2-year-old boy from Mexico whom authorities found at a suspected drop house in Tucson this month has been reunited with his parents.
Hector Salvador Michel Felix of Jalisco was found June 12 in the suspected drop house, consulate officials have said.
On Tuesday, consulate officials from Tucson and Nogales worked with the state's Child Protective Services to get the tot back to his parents.
The toddler's parents are believed to have paid to have him smuggled across the border and were planning to cross illegally themselves.

Parents would send a 1 1/2 year old with smugglers and plan later to be smuggled across the border themselves.....I don't believe it....there is more to the story. Did they sell the child?

Any chance the parents can be deported?

The Parents are in Mexico with the intent of sneaking into the U.S.

Sounds like a case of child abuse or neglect to me! Why would consulate officials from Tucson and Nogales work so hard with the state's Child Protective Services to get the tot back to his parents?
