    Lou Dobbs Tonight
    Friday, August 17, 2007

Tonight, tragedy in Utah – two rescue workers and a federal
official are killed while trying to reach the six men trapped
in the Crandall Canyon Mine. Now most of the rescue efforts are
on hold while experts try to determine if rescue workers can
safely operate underground. We’ll have full coverage of the
    mine disaster as events unfold.

The Federal Reserve cut its interest rate for loans to banks,
pushing the markets higher. But what does the change really
mean, and will it do anything to help this country’s middle
class? Tune in for that story tonight.

Russia and China staged massive joint military exercises on
Friday. The war games took place under the flag of the Shanghai
Cooperation Organization (SCO), a regional group that includes
Russia, China and four Central Asian states. Analysts say the
SCO wants to be a counterweight to NATO and that the regional
bloc poses serious threats to the United States. We’ll bring
    you a full report.

The Census Bureau wants immigration agents to suspend
enforcement raids during the 2010 census so the government can
better count illegal immigrants. The bureau says that raids
during the population count would make an already distrustful
group even less likely to cooperate with the government
interviewers, leading to an incorrect count. We’ll have that
    story tonight.

Tonight in our weekly tribute to the men and women who serve
this nation in uniform, we bring you the story of decorated war
hero Marine Lt. Brian Stann. He earned a silver star for
bravery after leading 42 men safely in and out of Iraq.

And, we'll be joined by three of the country's best political
analysts for a discussion of the week’s top stories: Ed
Rollins, former White House Political Director, Robert
Zimmerman, Democratic National Committeeman and Michael
Goodwin, Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist for the New York
    Daily News.

Some of these men in the mines are Illegal. They are reporting that they are having to get translators for their wives. Our Govenor is there also. He is probably helping with the translating. I don't wish for anything like this to happen to anyone. It is interesting to find out that this mine went non union and now hires illegals.

I don't mean to sound mean in this tragic incident....just once again it proves to me more than ever why when you come to live and work in this country.....learn ENGLISH!!! Sometimes when you are in a life and death situation we all don't have translators around to cater to all the various people who think they don't have to learn the language.
