AMERICANS AND LEGAL immigrants voted! We voted 'NO FOR AMNESTY'

'No' for a bill, which was so badly written, that Sen. Sessions gave his "Sneaky Lawyer Tricks' speech, saying that the bill was eviscerated by what could be called deliberate actions.
TIME'S UP!
**********
Why should only AMERICAN CITIZENS and LEGAL immigrants, have to obey the law?!

Another stale opinion from the fading elite dinosaur media.

Move over Broder, just like Robert Nofacts, it's time you retire. We do not need you to "enlighten" us and tell us how to think -- we have the new media now and access to much more information and a wider range of opinions.

The collapse of the immigration reform bill in the Senate last month means that the broken border system, which allows a continuing flood of illegal immigrants to enter the United States with no hope of attaining the responsibilities and privileges of citizenship,
When are these people going to get it??? They system isn't "broken"...the laws are in place, and they're good laws. They just need to be ENFORCED.

A particularly virulent strain of populism has made official Washington altogether too responsive to public opinion.
OH MY GOD!!! I can't believe this statement!! Our government is SUPPOSED to be responsive to public opinion...they represent US...the PUBLIC!!!

This writer is INSANE!!!!!!!
Calderon was absolutely right when he said...."Where there is a Mexican, there is Mexico".

With all its shortcomings, the defeated legislation offered some prospect of improving at least some aspects of that broken system. But it was buried by an avalanche of phone calls to the Capitol from good citizens decrying what they had been told on many talk radio stations and by some conservative politicians: that it was an amnesty bill.
Amnesty bill? Well, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be an amnesty bill. At least that's what any sane person would believe.

Had the mass of calls and the Senate vote gone in the other direction you think this article would have still been published? I don't think so!

I'm sure some people in this country are uneducated on the issue, but just because somebody is elected into office doesn't mean that they know whats better for this country than you and I, the average joe.

This article is idiotic to its core. While I shouldn't be, I'm still suprised what can make it to print.

The poor sad communist reporter. In his opinion, which is meaningless, noone else should have any say in their country. Just do what your told, take the scraps that are thrown to us and be happy with the misery they try to put us through.

"A particularly virulent strain of populism has made official
Washington altogether too responsive to public opinion."

I once though Broder somewhat objective.

"In today's Washington, a badly weakened president and a
dangerously compliant congressional leadership are no
match for the power of public opinion -- magnified and sometimes
exaggerated by modern communications and interest group pressure."

Dave, I don't hear you complaining about being on Meet The Press on
Sunday morning to give your views to the power of 100 like all the major
networks. Now that some of us can blog & youtube across the planet, it's
suddenly bad & mob rule. Wow, you ARE an elite. Are you on the CFR?

"...it was buried by an avalanche of phone calls to the Capitol from good
citizens decrying what they had been told on many talk radio stations and
by some conservative politicians: that it was an amnesty bill."

The truth really hurts doesn't it, Dave.

"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a man I have criticized on other
occasions, stood his ground and produced 33 Democratic votes to move
to close debate -- much to his credit."

Reid was relieved it didn't pass!!! Where was Speedy's venom for 15
members of his own party who refused to go down with the
sinking, capsized Kennedy Olds?

"Predictably, McConnell blamed the defeat on public sentiment."

He didn't have the courage to point out 15 dem senators agreed
with him because he's still in George's & TK's pocket.

"But they also have an obligation to weigh for themselves what
the country needs."

And they have done such a good job, Dave!

"But you win your place in history by doing what the country needs done."

Like enforcing laws?
