White House Assures India No New H-1B Restrictions

White House Assures India No New H-1B Restrictions

A delegation of Indian CEO's visited the White House this weekend and were assured that there would be no new restrictions on H-1B visas unless unemployment numbers get worse. The current H-1B program allows for 65,000 visas to be issued annually to high-skilled workers in tech and medical fields. Employers have to show that there are no available American workers to fill the jobs, but critics say the current program is riddled with fraud.

According to an article published by The Business Insider, Indian CEO's were told there would be no restrictions unless unemployment became drastically worse. The group of CEO's met with the Director of the National Economic Council Lawrence Summers.

The concerns by the Indian CEO's were raised after the economic stimulus legislation passed last month put restrictions on banks receiving TARP money from hiring foreign workers.

I had to add a note when I saw this posting. And I was wondering if anyone else out there has heard the same thing or similiar rumors?

Talking to a friend, he told me their was a friend of theirs that was getting laid off at the Post Office. BUT,to recieve their severance package they had to train an Indian immigrant (probably H1B Visa holder) for their job position. Hopefully he finds out a little more info on it. I was wondering if this happening in many areas or just something local. This is taking place over in Alamance County N Carolina.

I had already written a letter to a WARN ACT Attorneys

office to see if they heard anything about this. Not sure if I will hear back from them. So I thought I would try to do a little digging on it.

This would be against the law I would think since they are suppose to hire American first. But to lay one off to hire a visa holder would be astounding!

Well like I said I just wanted to throw this out there..........

Not for the money they are willing to pay. That is the problem with good ole' supply and demand. The government is supplying abundant cheap labor so therefore the hourly wage goes down and Americans are so deep in hock because of the buy now pay later mentality that has been taught by government and the msm and corportations that are trying to constantly increase the bottom line that we can't afford to work that cheap. Its a vicious cycle that is going to end in dire results. Pretty soon there won't be a single person in the US that can afford to buy any products sold here and then what will happen. I'm sure a mass exodus to other countries where products are affordable will ensue! What else could happen?
