Thomasville clerk shot in back; two arrested

Thomasville clerk shot in back; two arrested

A Thomasville man working as a clerk at a music store was shot in the back Saturday during an attempted robbery, and two men have been charged in the shooting.

Antonio Flores Luna, 39, of Scenic Way, was shot as he ran from Arenja Gospel Music on South Main Street about 11:45 a.m. after a man entered and attempted to rob the business. He was transported to High Point Regional Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, according to a press release from the High Point Police Department. A hospital spokeswoman said he was discharged Sunday.

A lookout on the suspect's vehicle was broadcast, the release said. Within seven minutes patrol officers located the vehicle at 1421 W. English Road. A K-9 track led police to two suspects, Eleazer David Sifuentes, 41, and Noel Miranda, 27. Both were charged with robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon.

High Point police detectives were able to attribute numerous robberies to these two suspects and clear the cases. They believe these two suspects are responsible for other robberies in surrounding cities.

The following additional robberies are attributed to the two men: Pantry Shop No. 4 on 3000West English Road, March 21; West Green Market on West Green Drive, March 28; Horn Red Dot on Ennis Street, March 29 (shots fired inside of the business, no injuries); Southside Food Market on South Main Street, March 29; Pantry Shop on 1421West English Road, March 29 (attempted robbery).
Also, the suspects have given several false names to police, who are attempting to verify their addresses. Detectives are in the process of verifying the suspects' identities through U.S. Immigration and other federal agencies.

HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) -- A pair of illegal immigrants have been charged with six robberies over the course of nine days, including one Saturday during which a store clerk was shot in the back.

Eleazer Sifuentes, 41, and Noel Miranda, 27, are charged with robbing a store on March 21, another on Friday and four on Saturday. High Point police detectives believe the two may be responsible for robberies in Thomasville and Lexington, as well.

Police nabbed the pair trying to rob the Pantry Shop on West English St.

Shortly before, according to police, the two had robbed the Arenja Gospel Music store next door. During the robbery, the store clerk, 30-year-old Antonio Luna, of Thomasville, was shot in the back. He was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

Police spotted the suspects at the Pantry Shop shortly after the alleged robbery of the gospel music store. The pair fled on foot and a police dog chased the men under a nearby house.

When the dog tried to bite one of the suspects, there was a scuffle, and the suspect grabbed the dog and put it in a sleeper hold. Officers acted quickly to free the dog and arrest the pair.

Attacking a police dog is a felony.

Both men admitted to police they're in the country illegally.

Seemingly, FOX 8 WGHP is the only local news source willing to admit these criminals are illegal aliens. The rest just say 'they're looking into it' or don't mention it at all.

    Coincidence

I'd like anyone who thinks there isn't a moratorium on these types of stories explain how they never get out on the national AP wire. I just searched for this one and there's NOTHING on the national AP about it.

Perhaps if it was an attractive Caucasian female victim it might have gotten some press.
