California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger says a controversial billboard promoting a Spanish-language television station in L.A. that places the city of angels in Mexico should come down.

He told KFI radio-talk team John & Ken show in Los Angeles today that KRCA-TV should remove the billboard that portrays Los Angeles as located in Mexico.

"I think they should take it down immediately," Schwarzenegger said.

He called it "divisive" and "unnecessary" and said it promoted illegal immigration.

Schwarzenegger, who last week urged President Bush to secure the border with Mexico to stem the tide of illegal immigration, said he thinks the Minuteman Project has done a terrific job.

"It's a shame the private citizen has to go in there and secure our borders," he said.

On the controversial billboard, the "CA" state abbreviation abbreviation after "Los Angeles" is crossed out and the word "Mexico" added in its place.

In the center of the billboard, placed within the L.A. skyline, is an image of the Angel of Independence, a well-known monument in Mexico City, further suggesting the merging of Los Angeles and Mexico.

It also says, "Tu Ciudad. Tu Equipo," or "Your City. Your Team."

"No one is promoting illegal immigration. Everyone has to obey the laws," Leonard Liberman, executive vice president of Burbank-based Liberman Broadcasting, which owns KRCA, told the Whittier Daily News.

Liberman told the paper his 16 Spanish-language radio stations and four television stations want audience members to feel at ease at home.

"Our newscasters cater to them. We try to make them comfortable," he said.

Last month, ClearChannel, the owner of the billboard, announced a "Multicultural Sales and Marketing Initiative" to expand its focus on "serving the fast-growing U.S. Hispanic and African American population."

I'm glad that Arnold is telling them to tear down that billboard. Now stick to your guns this time.

Are we sure that's what he said?I saw his interview with Sean Hannity last night and to be honest,I've seen illegal aliens that spoke more understandable English than Arnold.

I heard him on the John and Ken Show this afternoon. It is what he said. Now he needs to stop being a girlie-man and take the fight to those who support illegal immigration. Namely, the California Democrat Party and certain big businesses.
"Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Pat your enemies on the back until the right time comes, then take your revenge like a tiger. Never forget who conned you, hurt you or cheated you, regardless of who they are."

Hopefully since he received so much backlash from reneging on his words the last time, he'll stick to his guns this time. We can only hope. The excuse for reneging was really pathetic. I mean nobody bought it. If your going to punk out at least try to make it sound plausible.

I think we should give Arnold the benefit of doubt if he says he misspoke. Not only is he from a different country and may have problems properly expressing himself in english, consider that he isn't the consummate politician we are used to in government.

Most politicians are articulate artists, who can spin any issue. Arnold, however, was essentially an average citizen who, like most of us, became fed up with political incompetence. He may not be as articulate and word savvy as career politicians. There must be tremendous pressure in making public statements, knowing every word will be scrutinized in an effort to discredit.

Political imcopetence is about all he has to offer lately here in California. He seems to speak a lot better in the movies.Maybe he could put a Californian to work standing next to him with a chalkboard.
