Some Illegal Immigrants Caught In Raid Are Sent Back To Mexico

The meat packing plants raided in a massive immigration sweep on Tuesday are running at reduced levels. Swift and Company said its plants in Greeley and five other states resumed operations at reduced levels Wednesday, just a day after nearly 1,300 employees were arrested.

Two bus loads of those suspects were taken to Denver International Airport Wednesday where they boarded a plane to Mexico. The workers chose deportation rather than appear before an immigration judge. Barbara Gonzales with Immigration and Customs Enforcement said, "These civil search warrants are part of an ongoing work site enforcement that has revealed that individuals have been assuming the identity of us citizens and of U.S. residents in order to obtain employment."

Tuesday's sting comes after a nearly year long investigation. The feds also raided Swift plants in Texas, Nebraska, Utah, Iowa, and Minnesota.

    swift

They will be home for the holidays. Then they will steal across the border, purchase a new identity, and steal another job.

So did they choose to go home so they could get back and sneak back in the U.S. quicker, or did they have other warrants/charges they didn't want to face?

If they went through a hearing they're barred from returning for ten years by any legal means. Re-entering illegally after going through the hearing results in felony charges if caught again as is the case for Elvira Arellano in Chicago.

loservillelabor is 100% correct! Now these folks can return to the United States illegally as if nothing had ever happend and wait for a guest worker and/or amensty bill to be approved. DHS knows this, but yet they continue to leave the loophole wide open. Each of these folks should be forced before an immigration judge and placed under a deportation order of which ICE will be required to honor! The revolving border door continues...........
