    South African woman admits illegal border crossing

    PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (AP) - A 42-year-old South African woman is sentenced to 30 days in jail after pleading guilty to illegally entering the United States in northern New York.

    U.S. Attorney Andrew Baxter says Ethne Knopf Blumberg of Johannesburg pleaded guilty on Tuesday in Plattsburgh to the misdemeanor offense of illegal entry by an alien.

    On May 13, she walked across the Canadian border near Champlain, New York, avoiding immigration and customs inspection. She was arrested by a U.S. Border Patrol agent on a road in Champlain.

    Is this 30 day sentence only for non-hispanic illegal aliens? It seems to be. Isn't that discriminatory?
