South Carolinians have had enough!
General Assembly must pass bill to stop 'illegal immigration invasion' now!

The problem we are facing is not immigration. It is an "illegal immigration invasion." If you watched or listened to the news May 1 and 2, you are quite aware of the demonstrations that took place around the nation demanding "illegal immigration rights!"

You have to agree with me: "illegal rights" is an oxymoron! But that is exactly what was on the signs being carried by many of the demonstrators.

Check out the legal definition of "right" for starters. Right: It is that quality in a person by which he can do certain actions or possess certain things that belong to him by virtue of some title.

It was bad enough that these demonstrations disrupted many of our cities and even became violent in some. However, I personally was offended that the illegal aliens' protests were held on "May Day," a day historically celebrated by the Communist oppressive regimes around the world.

Furthermore, as an American who happens to have been born in Cuba, to see these illegals aliens waving flags with the image of Che Guevara repulsed me. Regardless of the movie you may have seen about this man, the truth is Che Guevara was nothing but a killer, responsible for the slaughter of many innocent Cubans, whose only crime was their disagreement with the tyranny that Fidel Castro brought to and maintains in this beautiful island we call Cuba.

Are these signs trying to tell us who is behind these marches? Neo-Communists? Together with greedy corporations that are creating an underclass right here in America? What a combination! But this would not be the first time that these two extremes have tried to join forces to the detriment of our nation.

Since the marches that took place last year, the illegal-aliens and open-border advocates continue to increase their demands. Who and what, give them the right to make demands on the United States?

Can you imagine having an intruder coming in your home and starting to make demands on you? This is what is happening in the United States, and indeed in South Carolina.

South Carolina has been invaded, and we must do something about it. Some statistics indicate we have one of the top illegal alien rates in the nation. And we definitely cannot afford to sit idle until the federal government does something about this. It is not that the federal government is incapable of tackling this issue. The federal government is simply unwilling to enforce the laws that have been on the books since 1986. The only part of that law that was implemented was the part that gave 3 million illegal aliens amnesty. The part of securing our borders has been ignored for the most part.

We need to understand that illegal immigration is not a single issue. The illegal alien problem affects every major aspect of our lives. It taxes and affects our health care, welfare, education and criminal justice systems. It also endangers our American culture and indeed, our American security.

Over the past year, a judicial subcommittee of the South Carolina State Senate conducted several hearings on the issue of illegal immigration. I attended all of these hearings and provided testimony at two of them. The majority of the people who testified wanted the illegal immigration invasion stopped.

Groups have formed all over South Carolina to fight this problem in their communities, and many of their members traveled to Columbia to provide input. Our only interest is to protect the sovereignty of our nation and our state. Not one of us has a monetary stake in this. Compare this to those who want the state to do nothing; or like they like to say, "Wait until the federal government enacts legislation." These individuals are motivated by greed and self-interest.

After numerous testimonies, the members and staff of the subcommittee studied this issue and drafted a bill (S 392) similar to the Georgia law. This bill was passed by the Senate and is sitting idle in the S.C. House's Judiciary Committee, headed by Rep. Jim Harrison.

Rep. Harrison needs to pull that bill out of committee and onto the House floor for a vote. We need this bill to become law. Georgia's bill becomes effective July 1. If we don't act immediately, the illegals from Georgia will come to our state.

One of the participants in the May Day march said on the evening news, "America belongs to everyone." If we don't stop this illegal alien invasion now, our nation could just belong to everyone, which means we would not exist as a nation anymore. I don't think the vast majority of American citizens and legal immigrants want this.
