"South Nashville Murder Suspect In Custody"


The man suspected of killing another man outside his south Nashville apartment was taken into custody Tuesday night.

Jose Dominquez, 24, of Veracruz, Mexico, has been charged with criminal homicide in the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Juan Tellez Benitez.

Benitez’s body was found outside his Wallace Road apartment early Monday morning.

Dominquez was taken into custody at an apartment on Humber Drive where he was staying with a friend.

He admitted his involvement in the homicide, telling detectives Benitez owed him money and refused to pay.

Dominquez, who is also suspected of being in the U.S. illegally, is being held without bond on the murder charge.
