Specter: Immigration Bill Possible in '06

    The Associated Press
    Sunday, April 23, 2006; 12:50 PM

WASHINGTON -- The chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee said Sunday he believes Congress will be able to work out differences and pass an election-year immigration bill, calling reform too important to neglect.

"I think the committee bill which got to the floor has the key ingredients of a successful bill," said Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., who has pledged to have legislation ready for debate soon after lawmakers return Monday from their two-week recess.

Specter noted that the Senate bill is aimed at protecting the borders, regulating the flow into the country of so-called guest workers and determining the legal future of the 11 million illegal immigrants already here.

"I think that there has to be an agreement between Democrats and Republicans on a list of amendments," he said. "And it would be a tough conference, candidly, with the House, but we were able to work through the Patriot Act although there were big disagreements."

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., intends to seek passage of immigration legislation by Memorial Day by reviving the Senate bill that stalled earlier this month due to internal disputes in both parties as well as political maneuvering.

In a gesture to conservative critics of the measure, Republican leadership aides said last week that Frist also will seek roughly $2 billion in immediate additional spending for border protection.

Some conservatives have said the Senate bill is unacceptable because provisions allowing for eventual citizenship to some of the illegal immigrants already here amount to amnesty. An immigration bill passed by the House is largely limited to enforcement, imposing criminal penalties and proposing to build a fence along the U.S.-Mexico border.

On Sunday, Democratic Sen. Carl Levin said it is possible the Senate can pass a bill if "the administration will weigh in and the president will take a leadership role on this."

"We need a bipartisan bill. We need a comprehensive bill," said Levin of Michigan, who appeared with Specter on "Late Edition" on CNN. "It's very possible we can get one, providing we address all of the problems, and not just one or two of them, since it's obvious our system is now broken."

Specter's payback for loyal disservice to America

As I have said before, what the President, the Senate, and many in Congress are doing is an example of laboring under insufficient policies or inadequate laws, it is a deliberate and massive conspiracy to violate federal immigration and labor laws and actively assist in the blockage and prevention of agencies and officers of the law to peform their sworn duties under our form of government under our legal system set down in written law and passed by our state representatives.

Therefore, the current administration and its enablers are nothing more than an organized criminal syndicate using political office and the color of authority to break and subvert US law on a continuous basis. The amnesty for illegals garbage repackaged as a guest worker program only seeks to codify this massive lawbreaking into law, even though it runs counter and contrary to every immigration and labor law we have on the books. The Bush regime is in reality simply a criminal abuse of power in the tradition of the unrestrained greedy robber baron pigs of earlier times who used government and elective office as an instrument with which to loot, pilfer, and rape the American citizen and taxpayer for their own selfish, repugnant ends.

Domestic businesses also wanted the same kind of windfall profits manufacturing outsourcers got from shipping American jobs overseas and cheap labor there. So they bought, sold, and bribed the Senate and the Congress to allow massive cheap illegal labor from Mexico to pour in here. Now both groups of disloyal, treasonous, greedy SOBs have the benefit of bypassing American workers and bending and breaking US laws to fill their swollen bank accounts regardless of the catastrophic impact this has on hard working, law abiding American citizens and legal residents.

Remember, Arlen Specter was endorsed by Bush and the Republican establishment over a more qualifed and conservative candidate, to the extent that the RNC actively hid Specter's life threatening illness, a serious political disadvantage, until after he got elected. Now Specter, the filthy lying traitor, is repaying his masters by running American civilization into the ground and smashing the rule of law and our future to pieces. I hope they all burn in Hell for eternity.

The way George Bush is breathing down their necks, you'd think they were going to have a bill by 6pm tonight.

Whatever happens it's really going to be his fault. I'm sorry to say that but it's true. He just CAN'T let these guys make up their own minds in accordance to what their constituents tell them.

ISN'T THAT BLOCKING THE WILL OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE??

What's the point of having a representative there for us then ? The president blocks them from doing their job, he offers them "deals" to do things his way, he threatens them with veto power, etc.

This isn't sounding TOO FREE if you ask me.

Maybe we can plan a DAY WITHOUT AMERICAN CITIZENS? The economy would come to a standstill. The only people that would be allowed to work are hospital emergency personnnel and police. Maybe we might need the national guard just in case of any rioting that might go on.
