Typical Miami they have to mention the illegal side as they don't want to offend the Hispanics. Other illegal groups don't scream as much and hide underground.

Radio Personality Stomping On Illegal Immigration

(CBS4) FT. LAUDERDALE A local South Florida radio personality wants to stomp out illegal immigration, literally, and she has decided to take her cause to Washington.

Joyce Kaufman, of WFTL, radio has collected thousands of shoes with writing on them. Some have people's names and the words 'legal immigrant'. Others have simple and direct messages against illegal immigration. These shoes have been donated by her listeners, and she's planning on taking them to Washington D.C. when she participates in a march against illegal immigration in the U.S.

She has obviously upset many immigration advocates in South Florida, but she says she has nothing against immigrants; it's just the illegal immigration that she is opposed to. In fact Kaufman's family, who is Hispanic, legally migrated to the U.S. She said her relatives came here legally, as part of programs designed to welcome them to the country.

"Everybody's afraid of what she said," Kaufman said. "Is it xenophobia? Is it bigotry? Is it racism? Is it hatred? This is patriotism."

Kaufman says she is tired of tax dollars being used to provide services to illegal immigrants.

But South Florida immigration advocates say immigrants, even the illegal ones, play a positive role in this country.

"The contribution of the undocumented immigrant is very, very significant," said Lucie Tondreau. "People are coming here for fear of persecution."

Tondreau also said that these migrants do jobs that no one else wants to do.

The rally will take place Sunday in Washington D.C.
