    Mexican diplomats checked out prisoners’ complaints

    BROWNSVILLE – Mexican diplomats responded to inmates’ complaints of mistreatment at a Cameron County jail.

    Five Mexican inmates refused to leave their cells Wednesday morning. They told NEWSCHANNEL 5 they were tired of rotten food and being treated worse than dogs.

    The Mexican consulate requested a visit to the jail to check out conditions there. They say the food was adequate. They will continue to monitor the situation to make sure Mexican citizens aren’t mistreated in the jail.
