36 suspects arrested in southern Arizona drug ring

PHOENIX (AP) — Authorities say 36 people have been arrested after a four-month investigation into a major drug ring in the southern Arizona communities of Safford, Thatcher and Pima.

The Arizona Narcotics Task Force says 43 suspects were identified as being involved in the sale of methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, marijuana and prescription drugs.

Warrants have been issued for the seven remaining suspects.

Authorities say some $50,000 worth of drugs was seized along with five weapons and three vehicles.

The Arizona Narcotics Task Force is comprised officers from the Arizona Department of Public Safety, Safford police, Graham County Sheriff's Office, Eastern Arizona College Police, Thatcher police and Pima police.

Also assisting with the operation was the Graham County Probation Department and the U.S. Border Patrol. Seventy officers and agents helped make the 36 arrests.
