State Lawmakers Produce List Of Crimes By Illegal Immigrants

In a blazing indictment of America's failed immigration policy, a report issued by Pennsylvania State Reps. Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler), Tom Creighton (R-Lancaster), Mark Mustio (R-Allegheny) and Scott Perry (R-York/Cumberland) chronicles 120 individual incidents of crime against Pennsylvania citizens at the hands of illegal immigrants.

Mr. Metcalfe used the report to renew the fight for passage of his National Security Begins at Home border security package.

In releasing the report, the state lawmakers were joined by Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta, Northampton District Attorney John Morganelli and Superior Court Justice Correale Stevens in the Capitol Rotunda. The report, dubbed "Invasion PA," is taken directly from testimony at last year's Republican policy meeting on illegal immigration and from newspaper headlines throughout Pennsylvania.

"The more than 3,100 illegal aliens documented in this report include first-degree, black-hearted murderers, addictive drug dealers, cop-killing gang members, child molesting sexual predators and terrorists in waiting who deserve swift and immediate prosecution, punishment up to and including the death penalty and at the very least deportation, rather than the dignity and respect of being called immigrants," Mr. Metcalfe exclaimed.

In an effort to bring his point home, Metcalfe displayed a color coded map of Pennsylvania, highlighting the nature and location of the crimes perpetrated by illegal immigrants. An overview of the map showed the crimes were largely relegated to eastern Pennsylvania and the Pittsburgh area, with criminal incidents sprinkled through the middle of the state.

"The Invasion PA report we are introducing here today without question shatters the inaccurate Un-American, Un-Civil Liberties Union spawned stereotype that illegal aliens continue to violate our nation's immigration laws in search of a better way of life or to fill the jobs that Americans supposedly won't do," Mr. Metcalfe said.

While the lawmakers had tough talk for illegal immigrants, they made it clear that such outrage was not directed at those who came to America legally.

"My grandparents came to this country as legal immigrants ... They came here to improve their lives through their own hard work, not by taking advantage of programs that are supported by tax dollars and designed to help people truly in need," stated Mr. Perry.

The lawmakers see this report as an opportunity to renew efforts to pass the National Security Begins at Home immigration package. Such a package includes, but is not limited to, legislation that would permit state and local law enforcement to aid the federal government in enforcing immigration laws, require mandatory employment enrollment in an employee social security verification system, and establish a criminal history name bank of previously detained illegal immigrants.

The National Security Begins at Home legislative package was re-introduced to the state House earlier this year, as it failed to leap political hurdles in 2006. 2007, however, may be no different, as the Democrat majority leadership has ignored the package and none of the legislation has received consideration by its respective committee. Nonetheless, lawmakers are hopeful that the will of the people will break through the red tape.

as the Democrat majority leadership has ignored the package
When will the Dems voters get fed-up enough with the crime to kick the bums into action? It's a sad testiment when pols. care more about political power than they do the safety of their citizens. I just can't believe the average Dem. voter feels this way.
