A study by the nonpartisan Public Policy Institute of California, released in 2005, found that most companies decide where to locate based not on tax breaks but on factors such as the availability of a highly educated workforce.[/quote]

"We have a tax code that incentivizes moving jobs out of the state," he said. "It only makes sense to change that. . . . We want to be a state that welcomes job creation. The benefits of this will be substantial."
Oh, bull crap and goat yangies. Highly educated work force does not exist in California? Is that why they need to bring in all those foreign workers?
What I really fear is that so many trends start in California and spread all over the country, and I would hate to see this trend follow suit. And, I will not express my opinion on the governator pushing this crap.

Heard that also and to push this much new taxes on people during a recession will probably backfire. People will drive less, purchase less and it will push more small businesses and people out of the state who are fed up.

In a good year I pay 27% to the feds, 8% to NY State, 4% to NYC, 6+% to SS and another 8% in sales tax. Now as a smoker and drinker I also pay the so-called sin taxes. Then there's all the other miscellaneous taxes to consider too, gasoline tax for example. I believe that is well over 50%.

Don't forget the new 61 cents a pack on cigs for SCHIP and they only need 21 million new smokers to get it paid for

One only has to watch the weekly LAUSD board meeting in order to get an understanding of how bad things are screwed up California. The majority of speakers who address the board are generally the first ones to complain about the budget cuts affecting the LAUSD!

Yet these same speakers cannot even address the board without the aid of a translator because they do not speak English! HELLO!!! How much is the LAUSD paying to provide translators at these board meetings? Do these people have any idea how much its costs to provide them with a translator to simply address a school board? Talk about irony!

If they are so concerned with budget cuts that might affect the education of their numerous anchor babies, then perhaps they could learn to speak ENGLISH!

The request a translator so that one of their relative can get $35 per hour to translate for them.
