The Mesa Police Chief has unveiled a plan to work with Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio and his posse as part of a crackdown on illegal immigration.
Chief George Gascon said he needs a two-day warning from the Sheriff before any 'crime suppressions' begin.
That way, he can make sure he has the resources available to help the Sheriff and also make sure the protests do not affect his overtime budget.
Chief Gascon also said he wants to include clergy in the demonstrations as a way to calm the situation.
Gascon attributes most of this plan to the time he spent with the Los Angeles Police Department.
"We did this stuff in our sleep," said Gascon. "The City of Mesa has not been exposed to these types of demonstrations in the past so we're having to create the local cookbook, if you will."

Using the clergy in demonstrations to calm down the situation??? Aren't most clergy pro-illegal immigration? What demonstrations---those arrested? Or is he addressing demonstrations opposing Sheriff Joe's crackdowns?"Distrust and caution are the parents of security."
