    unemployed illegals

Question. Is it possible to 1) get unemployement benefits without a SSN 2) is it also possible to get unemployement benefits with a tax ID?

If it's yes for either then how many illegals are being reported part of teh unemployment numbers the media give us?

Don't know about the tax ID # but yes, you are supposed to have a valid SS#......then again, you're supposed to have one to get a job.......many of these jobs, like construction and agriculture never qualified before for unemployment....but lord knows what's changed that I don't know about anymore. I got unemployment once in my whole life.....the rest of the time there was always some out to make sure most couldn't claim anything.

I say the actual unemployment is alot worse than they claim it is.....whether they count the illegals or not.

I used to work for the unemployment office in my state. A ss# was required to get UI (the ss# was how we "pulled up" their accounts), but I had plenty of people call me from what I now know are states that are overrun with illegals...they had ss#'s. I'm not sure about a tax Id because no one ever called me with that situation.

In Ohio and the surrounding states, construction workers do qualify for UI. The people who were calling from other states when I worked for Unemployment (TX, NV, NM) had a right to UI from Ohio because they worked here, so I'll assume they were migrant farm workers.

My ex did construction and I worked ag. We never qualified for unemployment because we weren't union and it was done on a per job basis or was known to be a feast or famine business. Worked to death during some months and nothing for others. With illegals if they are doing sub work under a contractor, they may not qualify. My husband now works for a florist/landscaping business.....he's considered a sub and not an official employee of the company......it's their way of getting around not having to cover you for alot of different things.....you are an employee, but not quite really. If you don't know the tricks, you might actually think you're an employee of a company or not understand what you are loosing because of it.

Remember when they were running into tax issues with the appointee's? If you pay for work done for more than 1,500 per year, you are supposed to payworkmans comp or a whole lot more than you'd think....You are considered an employer and you may think you are paying a company when in reality, that person is covered by neither. You or the company that supposidly hired them.

That's how they ousted the "paper boy" and "baby sitter" and alot of jobs people did to make money. Even bartering. Like I know I can't sell tomatoes at the end of my driveway without a business license and health inspections. They cracked down on that real bad for awhile. Then suddenly you can set up a grill in a parking lot and run a restaurant for nothing........once they crack down, people will be surprised.
