CBP Officers Seize $1.3 Million in Cocaine at Brownsville Border
(Wednesday, September 22, 2010)
Brownsville, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Gateway International Bridge discovered cocaine valued at approximately $1,347,200 concealed within a Chevrolet Tahoe Tuesday.
CBP officers came in contact with a female driving a gray 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe. The driver was identified as a 29-year-old female U.S. citizen who resides in Brownsville, Texas and she was referred to secondary for further inspection. CBP officers in the secondary inspection area discovered 19 packages concealed within the Tahoe. CBP officers removed the 19 packages from the vehicle which had a combined total weight of 19.10 kilograms (42.1 pounds) of cocaine.
The cocaine from this seizure has an estimated street value of approximately $1,347,200. CBP officers turned the woman over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations special agents for further investigation. CBP officers seized the narcotics and the vehicle.
