True to form, forked-tongue Richardson backstabs immigration control efforts again.
This time with a fellow governor he was just visiting the border with not too long ago.

NM gov urges veto of Arizona immigration measure

Associated Press - April 21, 2010 4:55 PM ET

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson has urged Arizona's governor to veto immigration enforcement legislation that critics say will lead to racial profiling.

Richardson, a Democrat, recommended the veto in a telephone call Wednesday with Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer, a Republican.

Richardson's office confirmed that but spokesman Gilbert Gallegos declined further comment.

The Arizona legislation requires police to determine a person's immigration status if they suspect the individual is in the country illegally. Civil rights advocates say it promotes racial profiling. Supporters say it frees police to crack down on illegal immigration.

Earlier this month, Richardson and Brewer made an aerial tour of the border with Mexico.

Richardson has supported immigrant-friendly measures in New Mexico, including allowing illegal immigrants to get driver's licenses.
