Suspect in Denver hit-and-run death busted at Mexico border

A man wanted by Denver police in connection with a hit-run vehicular homicide was arrested Tuesday night at the Texas-Mexican border.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers performing anti-terror inspections at the Ysleta international crossing detained 36-year-old Salvador Marquez Farela about 7 p.m., according to a news release today.

But family members said today that Marquez Farela turned himself in, at the urging of relatives.

"All he wanted to do was go and see his kids" in Juarez, Mexico, before surrendering, said a cousin, who asked not to be named. "He knew the situation was going to be bad."

An aunt and uncle traveled to El Paso, Texas, the cousin said, to make sure that Marquez Farela made himself known to authorities.

"They told him he had to turn himself in because our family is not like that."

Denver police had put out a warrant for Marquez Farela's arrest after identifying him as the suspect who ran over a 25-year-old pedestrian at East Eighth Avenue and Lincoln Street early Saturday.

    The pedestrian died.

    Yeah, right.
Calderon was absolutely right when he said...."Where there is a Mexican, there is Mexico".
