Suspected Human Smuggler Evades Capture After Pursuit

PENITAS-Officers were led on a high speed chase by a man they suspect was a human smuggler. Penitas Police tried to stop a van early Sunday morning but the driver refused to stop. The driver led police on a pursuit through West Hidalgo County before bailing out of the van, leaving behind several illegal immigrants. Some of the immigrants were taken into custody. The alleged smuggler was not caught.
