DENVER (AP) -
An 8-year-old girl suffered serious head injuries and four others were also hurt today when their sport utility vehicle rolled over on Interstate 70 near Idaho Springs. It was 1 of several crashes on Colorado's icy and snowpacked roads following yesterday's storm.

The other person riding in the SUV wasn't injured.

The six passengers, all members of the same family, are suspected of being in the country illegally because they were carrying identification cards from Mexico. The state patrol's immigration unit and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement are investigating.

The accident shut down eastbound lanes of the highway for about 2 1/2 hours. The family was headed from Nevada to Nebraska and the driver was apparently speeding on the highway, which had some icy spots.

South of Denver, a portion of C-470 was also closed for about three hours after nine vehicles crashed in icy and snowpacked conditions.

In the city, a bus slid on ice and crashed into a house, breaking a gas line but firefighters say no one was hurt.
