SUV carrying illegals crashes into GV home

A white Ford Explorer smashes into a house Tuesday at 1560 W. Vista Ridge Dr. in Green Valley. The owners of the home were uninjured. The SUV was filled with illegal immigrants, five of whom escaped from the Border Patrol.

A vehicle being pursued by the U.S. Border Patrol crashed through the bedroom of a Green Valley house early Tuesday morning, injuring one illegal immigrant and causing extensive damage to the structure, officials said.

The white Ford Explorer, carrying approximately eight illegal immigrants, was speeding through San Ignacio Vistas around 5:40 a.m. when it lost control and crashed into a house in the 1500 block of Vista Ridge Drive, Pima County Sheriff’s reports said.

The Explorer struck the southwest corner of house, traveled through a block wall, then struck the building a second time, breaking a natural gas line and leading to the temporary evacuation of surrounding homes.

Both residents were uninjured; one illegal immigrant, a 33-year-old male, was taken to University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, reports said.

Two other passengers determined to be illegal immigrants were taken into the custody of the Border Patrol. As many as five others, including the driver, escaped, reports said.

Green Valley Fire also arrived on the scene; safety inspections were conducted by Southwest Gas and Tucson Electric Power.

Who's going to pay to get that home fixed? It should not have to be the homeowner, their insurance will skyrocket or be cancelled!

I saw two follow-up TV reports about this, because the residents of this house got to talk to their U.S. Congresswoman Gabriel Giffords about what happened to them. She's in Raul Grijalva's pocket ( he helped elect her) so she won't do any good. Also one of the TV stations reported that our County Attorney and Sheriff's Office didn't charge anyone in this vehicle with a crime, even though they virtually destroyed this older couple's house and were fleeing law enforcement.

Again, I can't help but wonder if these had been white Arizona drug dealers fleeing law enforcement and had the same collision into the house, tell me, would you believe they wouldn't face any charges?

Most insurance will not cover damage do to acts of war or terrorism. How much do you want to bet this was classified as such by the insurance company?
