The Republican Party in Jessamine County held an meeting about immigration over breakfast Saturday morning. They cooked up ideas ranging from border patrol, hiring practices and enforcing immigration laws right here in our communities.

Many of the attendees hope to evoke change in the current illegal immigration situation in the United States, starting with discussion.

People raised questions like how should the government deal with illegal immigrants currently in the country?

They also provided some answers.

"I think employers should have to pay a fine or eventually go to jail.... if they keep hiring people who aren't legal," said Joanne Smith of Nicholasville.

After digesting the ideas-the Party will send some suggestions to elected officials.
