NY-Panel discusses mom, girl's Brewster deaths,illegals
WATCH NOW: Panel discusses mom, girl's Brewster deaths, illegal immigration
June 18, 2009
Watch live at noon today as a panel of Brewster-Southeast community members takes part in a Journal News Editorial Board conversation about the issues arising from an accident that left a Brewster woman and her little girl dead and an allegedly drunk illegal immigrant charged with two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide.
Police say 35-year-old Zacaria Conses-Garcia was driving drunk and without a license when he struck 37-year-old Lori Donohue and her 8-year-old daughter, Kayla, as they walked outside of the child's village dance studio on June 8.
The accident has heated up the issue of illegal immigrants in Brewster and traffic safety.
Watch the conversation - and post questions and comments - on a live Webcast at noon at www.LoHud.com/editorialspotlight.

I watched it and it seemed to me they just covered the 'talking points of OBLers'. The main point being that this was a drunk driving incident and should not be allowed to turn into an anti-immigrant bashing.
All the same old reasons for not enforcing immigration law were mentioned.
yada, yada, yada...

A blunt discussion on the Brewster crash
A blunt discussion on the Brewster crash
June 18
Today’s panel discussion about the Brewster crash, convened by the Journal News editorial board, turned out to be a remarkable exchange. There was debate about whether the tragedy — a drunk-driving incident that killed a mother and child — had anything to do with the illegal immigration issue. The man indicted in the crash was identified as undocumented and unlicensed, a horse-farm laborer originally from Guatemala.
Brewster Mayor James Schoenig said he knew immediately what reaction he would receive. He described receiving a series of phone calls “saying that they want to line all the immigrants up on Main Street and shoot them, (and ranging) to, let’s find a local tree and get some rope and hang them.â€Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at http://eepurl.com/cktGTn

The fact remains that a Mother and Daughter, Two U.S. Citizens, are dead because an ILLEGAL was in the United States driving drunk; if he were not in the U.S. ILLEGALLY the two Citizens would be alive or at the very least not murdered by the ILLEGAL in this drunk-driving incident.

Thanks fedup, I just posted there:
Was it Betsy that said "The demographics are changing."? Well that just set me off. She might as well have said "Illegal Aliens have chosen to settle in YOUR town and change the culture to suit THEM, get over it." All the same old PC BS too, 'we don't have the resources...it's the feds responsibilty...good people trying to make a better life for their families...get to know them and you will love em. Makes me sick!
How about the religious orgs. do it the old fashioned way and sponsor Immigrant families at their expense and not FORCE 'we' the taxpayers to contibute to this charity. I, for one, do not wish to subsidize those coming here Illegally and dragging down the American standards of living.Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
