Border Fence Could Mean More Pressure for Coast Guard

Illegal activity could get pushed into the water
SOUTH PADRE ISLAND--- Coast Guard officers are charged with a duty to protect the border line between Mexico and the Unites States, but with the possibility of a border fence they're afraid it could mean more pressure on them.
Illegal activity is something the Coast Guard faces everyday; something they train for. They're the frontline on the water, but with such a large area to cover, they tell us it's impossible to get everyone.
Lieutenant Charles Hawkins says a border fence will make things worse by pushing illegal activity into the water, and make it even more difficult to protect us against the threats of terrorists, illegal aliens, and smugglers.
He tells us they always try to be prepared, but they could use more man power.
