Taxes and social security paid by illegal immigrant househol

There are 36,000,000 illegal immigrants in the U.S. that are recorded. Department of Homeland Security, reports that nearly 60% of illegal aliens are from Mexico and 80% of the total are from Latin America as a whole. Nearly 400,000 U.S. children are born to illegal aliens each year.

Illegal immigrant families are reported as typically poor due to many reasons which include language barriers, lack of completed education, low skill set, and size of families and are compensate by way of social services.

61% of all Mexican immigrants and 48% of all Latin American immigrants have not graduated high school.

It is the presence of their U.S.-born children coupled with their low education levels that explains why so many immigrant households use the welfare system.

Illegal alien households used about $2,700 more services in 2004, than they paid in taxes at the federal level only. Households headed by a legal Mexican immigrant created a net fiscal drain at the federal level of roughly $15,000, and for those with only a high school degree the drain was a little over $3,700.

If Obama grandfathers in over 36 Million illegal aliens we will end up paying in 2011 at least $72,280,000,000 of dollars to this group as a result through the Earned Income Credit and other tax benefits for those that qualify.

Current subsidized programs extended to this group are food stamps, WIC, school lunch, Medicaid, TANF, public/rent-subsidized housing. EAEDC or TAFDC as a severely disabled adult or child, SSI (Supplemental Security Income), Disability or blindness payments under Title II, or Retirement, or Survivor Disability Insurance (RSDI).

As of September 8, 2009, employers with federal contracts or subcontracts that contain the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) E-Verify clause are required to use E-Verify to determine the employment eligibility and Social Security numbers. According to Human Resources Administrators they are bound by regulations that restrict them from informing an applicant or inquiring about the possible illegal use of a social security card number.

Additionally, at the time of hire if E-Verify were not used at the time of hire, the new employee could continue to work until the employer received a written notification by mail that a correction was necessary. In relation to W-4 reporting Human Resource Administrators stated that an underpayment of tax was common as a count of 8 withholdings was typical as the applicant knew that they would not receive a tax refund at the end of the year.

Demonstration of government withholdings for an Illegal Alien using a stolen Social Security Number, (if they claimed 4 on their W-4)

    ANNUAL Taxable Pay: $20,800.00
    Nontaxable Retirement Benefits 0.00
    Nontaxable Cafeteria Benefits 0.00
    FICA Withholding 1,289.60
    Medicare Withholding 301.60
    Federal Withholding 0.00
    Oregon Withholding 417.00
    Net Pay 18,791.80

Total taxes would be $718.60 annually.

In this demonstration we adjusted the withholdings to (4), and notice that it does not reduce their Federal Insurance Contributions Act withholding for Social Security Trust Fund. This fund provides retirement income, as well as disability insurance, Medicare, and benefits for survivors. In the above example they would have contributed a total FICA Withholding 1,289.60 for year 2010 ($107.46 mo).

Total Annual Paid in Withholdings for family of 4 using a stolen Social Security Number: $2008.20

The income above qualifies for a family of two U.S. born children and two legal-non-citizens qualifies them for $341 Mo. / $4092 Annual food stamps.

Family of 4 with year end deductions of $2008.20 minus food stamps credit $4092 = a deficit of -$2083.38 from the tax base. Average annual education benefit is approximately $10,000 per child.

Welcome, Seter. Good figures. Perhaps what is worse is that such people have been putting a brake on our industrial advancement, thus creating a niche for what we call "importing poverty." Far more agricultural jobs should have been eliminated by machinery but advocates--- Cesar Chavez was one---have taken legal action to ensure that those low skilled jobs remain in our system. That has given them a toehold to advance to many more roles in our economy. And to become an everincreasing drain on our taxes.

Please call your own US Senator and moderate Republicans and Democrats. And ask your friends to do it too.

No actually both you and Seter are wrong two wrongs do not make a right. What Seter has done is pull an inflated number out of thin air. If we reward the illegals already here with an amnesty it will get that bad but it is not near that high...yet.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

Actually I didn't pull the number out of thin air, the author of the article did (bottom link in the post). I wasn't so much interested in big number as I was the break down of taxes.

As for the number, I've seen both the 30+ mil and the 10+ mil and the 12+ mil, etc, etc. So until someone actually drags all of the illegals out of hiding and counts them, I don't think anyone has an accurate count except that there's way too many of them.

OK I do not dispute the loss to the public budget per illegal figure.

I own a small business and Seter is absolutely on target in the logic behind his numbers. The key factor here is what the new employee puts on his W-4 that determines what mandatory withhodings will occur on their pay deductions.

If they put 6 or 8 exemptions down regardless of what they are legally entitled to claim on the gross income Seter used they will have ZERO federal withholding taken out on federal taxes. It is a way to bypass the system and get their tax refund back on each paycheck versus if they put the correct exemption down where they would file end of the year federal taxes and claim a refund. In States that have a state income taxes that impacts what is withheld. So in Arizona if they climed 8 exemptions on federal, they would not have any taxes withheld and they would not have any state taxes withheld either. The only tax that would be held is the mandatory tax on social security and medicaid which both combined currently equal 7.65% of gross pay.

Most illegal workers are fully aware of how to bypass the federal withholding to give them a bigger weekly paycheck and put emptions in the 6-10 range. Employers can not even question it. All we can do is ensure they signed the W-4 form.

So, yes, most of your illegal workers who are making incomes under 24K will pay ZERO federal taxes but most had they claimed correct exemptions and been legally able to claim a refund would not have paid federal taxes anyways because their incomes versus exemptions entitled would have placed them in a zero tax bracket anyways.

So, at this point the only benefit if you will to taxes being taken from illegal workers that currently they will never recieve benefits on is the social security and medicaid tax becuase they will never be able to file a retirement claim for it and recieve social security retirement or medicaid.

The offeset question is how much do they draw in other benefits versus social security taxes, the only true tax they pay, on benefits such as food stamps, WIC, section 8 housing, ect. Well we all know that those cost far exceed the 7.65% social security tax withholdings so their is definately a deficit, and then if they have kids we know the cost to educate them of federal and state tax dollars far exceed any contribution they make.

When you have more takers then givers under our current system illegal immigration instills a much quicker and higher drain on the social structure we have that pays for programs such as food stamps, education, ect; because most of those programs are paid with Federal dollars and if we already have half the country not paying federal taxes to support that then it is easy to see that the number is greater then half when you factor in illegal workers who are not a part of the official statistics so it would more like 65-70% don't pay any federal taxes while 30-35% actually pay at least a dollar into federal taxes.

    Taxes and Social Security

I have seen numbers on Mexican news reports giving a 28 million number regarding illegals in the U.S. Until we have a way to actually count the illegals, we can only speculate. Pretty obvious that the 12 million number quoted by government for past 5 years is a gross underestimate.

The 2007 REFORM bill pushed by McCain would allow illegal workers to CLAIM CREDIT FOR SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENTS EARNED UNDER ILLEGAL EMPLOYMENT.
It is not true that illegal will never be able to claim the Social Security being held out of their pay. They would also qualify for Social Security benefits with fewer work credits that legal citizens are required to have.

Please go to numbersusa and read the 2007 Bill. The new REFORM package is based largely on the 2007 giveaway bill.

It is true that Congress believes we must "ENTICE" illegals to register for legal status. Not only will they receive legal permission to keep the jobs they have stolen from citizens, the employers get a free pass too. Tax credits will allow illegals to come out WAY AHEAD of any fine they are required to pay.

There is good reason that illegals want REFORM so badly. Not so much for the opportunity to pay taxes and contribute to the U.S. There is a BIG financial carrot being offered that Congress hopes taxpayers do not find out about.
