Mass. immigrants send First Lady Mom's Day message
The Associated Press

BOSTON — A coalition of Massachusetts immigrant advocate groups are taking their case for immigration reform to first lady Michelle Obama through a "Mother's Day letter."

The groups are scheduled Sunday to mail the letter containing stories about immigrant mothers and families.

The letter also argues that President Barack Obama has the executive authority to order an immediate halt to raids and deportation.

Patricia Montes, executive director of Centro Presente, said the letter has been signed by thousands, including immigrant mothers and their children.

The letter is part of a nationally coordinated effort organized by the National Alliance of Latin American and Caribbean Communities to send the first lady letters about immigrant mothers and their struggles.
